This is an update from the City of Oakland’s Economic & Workforce Development Department (EWDD) for businesses, nonprofits, independent contractors and our partner organizations who support them. These are just highlights of available resources. For information on all of the support programs available, please visit our Business & Worker Resource web page.

Testing remains important even as vaccines roll out. If you’re experiencing symptoms or have been in close contact with someone confirmed to have COVID-19, please visit Alameda County’s web page to find Community Testing Sites.

Alameda County reminds residents that the longer they wait to get vaccinated, the greater the risk of contracting COVID-19 and becoming seriously ill or spreading it to a friend, loved one or co-worker. And that highly effective and safe COVID-19 vaccines are making it safer for us to reopen. Still not sure about the vaccine or worried about things you may have heard? Visit Greater Than COVID to view videos and toolkits. If  you  have questions  about  which vaccine is right for you, speak with your health care provider.

State Health Department Issues Guidance for Businesses Effective June 15
While the tier-based restrictions outlined in the State’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy remain in effect through June 14, the state recently released guidance effective June 15. Most business activities will have no capacity limitations or physical distancing restrictions starting June 15, however, there are some continued restrictions for Mega Events (indoor events with crowds greater than 5,000 and outdoor events with crowds greater than 10,000).

All workplaces must continue to follow current Cal/OSHA’s standards, including current masking requirements, if applicable to your business. New Cal/OSHA COVID-19 guidelines are anticipated following a board meeting on June 3. Details were not received prior to this content going for translation. The effective date of the new guidelines may be June 15 to coincide with the end of the state’s color-coded tier system.

Get ready for June 15 by getting vaccinated.
The California Rebuilding Fund is a loan program to support California’s small businesses – especially those located in economically disadvantaged and historically under-banked areas of the state. Businesses who employed 50 or fewer full-time equivalent employees and had gross revenues of less than $2.5 million in 2019 are eligible to apply. The loans are flexible, transparent and designed to help businesses access the capital and advisory services they need to get through these challenging economic times.

Fill out a pre-application to be matched with a participating local community lender who will work with you on your full loan application. If approved, the loan will be made through that community lender and you will continue to work with them throughout the life of your loan.
